Clinical Trials Awareness Week_4th to 8th May 2015

Coalition of Clinical Trials Awareness (CCTA), Washington has declared the week from 4th to 8th May 2015 as "Inaugural Clinical Trials Awareness Week."

Please see the initiatives here: http://cctawareness.org/initiatives/

During this week, national and local patient advocacy organizations, medical societies, research institutions, and others will join together to raise public awareness about the benefits of clinical trials awareness. Participating organizations will sponsor activities designed to leverage media coverage to reach the public and policymakers, such as:
  • The AWARE for All Clinical Research Education Day being held at George Washington University on Tuesday, May 5. CCTA is on the planning committee for this event being sponsored by the Center for Information & Study on Clinical Research Participation. The event is designed to promote understanding and dialogue around clinical research participation and includes presentations from leading medical professionals, testimonials from patients involved in clinical research, and free health screenings.
  • Development of a media toolkit for organizations to utilize to get the word out on Clinical Trials Awareness Week and the issue of clinical trial participation. The toolkit will include social media cheat sheets, hashtag information, sample blogposts, newsletter articles, and other useful tools to help reach the public.
  • Development of a video on clinical trials awareness for use during Clinical Trials Awareness Week. The video will include interviews with the public showing the lack of awareness about clinical trials and the importance of patient participation.
  • Hosting of a tweet chat during Clinical Trials Awareness Week.
  • The creation of a common brand for Clinical Trials Awareness Week to help drive social media participation.
Pharma Literati supports this initiative and  encourages the readers to celebrate this at their campuses. Here in India, we also need this kind of initiative.
