A 24-year woman student pursuing her masters in pharmacy from Pune based college has been duped by unidentified suspects on the pretext of getting her job with a leading pharmaceutical compan y. The woman was contacted over her email address and was made to deposit Rs 10, 000 in a bank account with a nationalised bank for getting the job. Anil Chintaman Rajurkar (55) a resident of Mehernagar, Garkheda has complained to the Cidco police station that his daughter Anushri (24) is doing M Pharm in a Pune college and received an e-mail informing her about her selection in Ranbaxy Laboratories New Delhi and asked her to deposit the money in Punjab National Bank account. On her request he deposited the amount in the given account of the bank. Anushri kept waiting for response for days together but in vain. Rajurkar stated that whenever she contacted the suspects to inquire about the job they promised, they would enquire whether she has deposited the money and even started seeking ...

Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has set up an expert committee to examine the validity of the claims made on the labels of some of the high profile vitamin supplements marketed in the country for some years. The committee would evaluate the claims made on the ingredients of these products to help the consumer determine the intended therapeutic or prophylactic use of the products. DCGI has formed an 8-member committee for the purpose to review these products which are currently classified as food products with exemption from stringent marketing and pricing rules. Among the 10 products that are currently being examined are Pfizer's 'Ferradol' , Alkem Pharma's 'A to Z' and Sun Pharma's 'Revital'. This move will not only help to bring effective regulations of the products but also correct the anomaly of multivitamins getting marketed as dietary supplements. Firstpost reports that the drug-makers Sun Pharma and Ranbaxy got fair trade watchdog CCI's {Competition commission of India} approval on Monday for their long-pending USD 4-billion merger, but with a condition that they will have to modify the deal by divesting seven key products to address monopoly concerns. This move would create the country's largest pharmaceutical company post the merger between Sun Pharma and Ranbaxy Laboratories. Under the conditions, Sun Pharma will divest products involving Lueprorelin. The divest products will include Tamplet and Lupride . On the other hand, Ranbaxy Laboratories will divest products such as Raciper L, Terlibax, Triolvance, Olanex F and Rosuvas EZ.
