Fifth edition of ‘Pharmac South’ to be held at Chennai Trade Centre on June 28 and 29

With an aim to boost contract manufacturing and scaling up of pharmaceutical business in Tamil Nadu, the fifth edition of the south India’s most important and successful pharmaceutical products exhibition and buyer-seller meet, Pharmac South 2019, will be held at Chennai Trade Centre on June 28 and 29, sources from TN IDMA, the organizers of the event, informed.

The event will be organised by the Tamil Nadu state board of the Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association (IDMA) in collaboration with Orbit Exhibitions, Mumbai. The event will be supported by Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) and CIPMMA, the marketers body. Generally, the trade show attracts marketers, outsourcing managers from major domestic companies and supply chain & logistics management people from pharma companies all over India. This year the expo is expected to see a high number of exhibitors and an equal number of visitors.

In addition, the trade fair will have a significant number of regulatory people from multiple states, accordingly a half-day time on 29th will be devoted to regulatory seminars. The Drugs Controller General of India, Dr. Eswara Reddy will be one of the chief guests in the seminar.

According to J Jayaseelan, chairman of TN IDMA, Pharmac South is a product exhibition of pharmaceuticals in general, but it is a large-scale pharma industry gathering. The show offers a perfect one-stop platform for the contract manufacturers of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry who form the exhibitors side and the potential visitors who include brand managers, marketers, outsourcing managers and business networking people from all over India. The participating contract manufacturers and pharma industry people from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry will present their equipment, machinery, various supplies and innovative products.

As part of the expo, various informative seminars on branding, marketing, outsourcing and regulatory affairs will be held. It will also provide the exhibitors and visitors a platform for buyer-seller meetings (BSM) and purchasing facilities. In the buyer-seller meet organized as part of Pharmac South-2018, the Tamil Nadu pharma industry could win a business order of Rs.20 crore. In the 2019 show, the organizers expect participation of about 400 exhibitors and around 3000 potential visitors.


Pharmac South is south India’s leading event for product and technology exhibitions in the pharma sector. Contract manufacturers and entrepreneurs from MSMEs in southern states will showcase their quality products before a wide variety of business people. The first of the series was started in the year 2014 at Chennai Trade Centre.
